Reporting of Alleged Wrongdoing

If your child is a resident in a
Harris County Juvenile Probation Department facility, you may report alleged wrong doing by calling (877) 786-7263.

brochure has been created relating to recognizing, reporting, and investigating abuse, neglect, and exploitation in the juvenile probation system. A Spanish-language brochure is also available.

The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD) accepts and investigates third party (i.e., relatives of residents, attorneys or the general public) reports of alleged abuse, exploitation, neglect or mistreatment concerning our facilities’ operations and probation programs. Third parties may report alleged wrong doings concerning HCJPD facilities or probation programs by calling 1-877-786-7263.

Third parties having concerns that a child in the custody of a Harris County Juvenile Probation Department facility has been treated improperly may also complete a Community Grievance Form.

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is a federal law that supports the elimination, reduction, and prevention of sexual abuse in adult and juvenile facilities as well as community corrections programs.

Pursuant to PREA, the National Standards to Prevent, Detect and Respond to Prison Rape became law on August 20, 2012.

All HCJPD facilities have zero tolerance policies concerning any form of conduct that meets the definition of sexual abuse or sexual harassment. Residents have the right to be free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This includes not being subjected to sexually assaultive, abusive, and/or harassing behavior from staff, vendors, volunteers, interns and other residents.
